Kick-off Meeting of FIT4REUSE project in Bologna, Italy
The European project FIT4REUSE which aims to provide safe and sustainable solutions for the integrated use of non-conventional water resources in the Mediterranean agricultural sector held its kick-off meeting on 16th – 18th July 2019 at the Pallazina della Viola in Bologna. The meeting brought together the project consortium which consists of 9 partners together with the PRIMA Foundation, the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area to discuss the implementation of the project.
During the meeting, partners shared their enthusiasm for the project’s beggining and vision. In a fruitful and collaborative environment, partners discussed and organized tasks needs to be accomplished in the framework of implementing the nine work packages. In the 36 months of the project, our aim is to develop innovative nature-based and intensive treatment solutions for facing the high water demand in agricultural sector, especially in the Mediterranean region which is characterised by limited and irregular availability of water resources in both time and space. Treated wastewater and desalinated water can compensate the gap between available and needed water, and provide regular water supply throughout the year. FIT4REUSE overall methodology will produce safe, low-cost and public acceptable solutions that fit to local scenarios across Mediterranean basin.
